The ZAO Experience
If you’re looking for some grub straight off the grill, this is where you should be headin’ to.
Zao is home to THE best Sizzling Sisig in town, you don’t wanna know what’s in it but let me tell you that you’d be missing half your life if you don’t have a taste of this kick-ass dish. Zao is definitely a carnivore’s paradise, no salads and whatnots in this restaurant. They’ve got all kinds of steak for you enjoy - Filipino style. Top pick would be the sizzling bulalo steak and the porkterhouse steak with lots of creamy gravy over garlic rice. Yumm!! Bring on the cholesterol. Another must-try is the Kebab, tender beef on sticks with creamy yogurt sauce and bell peppers. Amazing appetizers await as well, nachos, pita bread with spinach &cheese dip and other delicious dishes that are best paired with an ice cold San Miguel Light Beer.
At the end of the day, you wanna kick back, relax with some great food, great beer, great music and one hell of a relaxing place. No questions asked, head on down to Zao.

Little Italy….Tiramisu~! Don’t you miss it?
Grappa’s Ristorante
Basement 1, Jardine House, (Central)
Tel:2521-2322
Price per head: $101-$150
Went here for lunch today with my friends. Wanted to try out some Italian food.
Well, what can I say about this place? The atmosphere is good. The food here is delicious. One big criticism though: the service is crap! The waiters tend to avoid even looking at you when you wave at them. They hardly care to take your orders! Very bad service for such an expensive meal!
Anyway, both my friends and I went for the set lunch - 3-course meal, which cost around $160 each. They also ordered a pizza in addition.
I went for the ceasar salad + salmon + tiramisu set.
The ceasar salad was fab, nice veggies.
The salmon was very nice, BUT the rest of the food, such as the veggies and the so-called pasta rolls were horrible! Hardly any taste at all!
The tiramisu is excellent - it had this wine taste, but tasted of almond. All in all, it was very delicious.
My friends went for 1 set lunch: mushroom soup, which was creamy and fab! And linguine with prawns. I tried out some of the linguine which had this strong prawn flavor. It’s not especially my cup of tea, but I’m sure it tasted alright.
As for the dessert, they went for the Ben & Jerry’s Super Premium Ice-cream - chocolate. They kept on saying that it had this cookie flavor in it and was super yummy.
Anyway, as for the pizza: we ordered the blue cheese pizza and shared it amongst ourselves. It was so cheesy and the crust was very nice! Definitely a good choice if you like cheese and pizza!
As for the appetizer: bread. Very disappointing. It was far too cold, but the olive oil was of high quality.
Above all, this restaurant serves good food, BUT the service was crap, some of the waiters appeared to be very impatient and the food is far too expensive. The appetizer - bread can also be served at a warmer temperature.
Mak Man Kee: Your favourite wonton soup in town
Mak Man Kee Noodle Shop
Tel:2736-5561
G/F., No. 51 Parkes St., (Jordan)
Price per head: HKD$35-$60
There were no lines yesterday around 7pm when I went to this noodle shop. As I walked in, a friendly waiter beckoned me to a vacant table for 4, and I had the table to myself for almost half of the meal. It was my first visit, and I found the place clean and bright, and even the chopsticks felt slightly warm when the waiter set them on the table.
I already knew what I was going to order before coming in, having done my research by going through many reviews on Openrice.com.
I first ordered a “speical shrimp source mixed noddle”($34), which came with a small bowl of clear wonton soup. The portions were good, not too large and not too small, and the noodles were cooked nicely and just right, not soggy and not dry though I wished there was more speical shrimp source, which tasted so good.
The mixed noddle was followed by a bowl of “Wonton soup” ($24). The wontons were tasty and the shrimp in the filling seemed fresh. The size was again just right.
The service was friendly and prompt. I would definitely come back again.

I’ve been to the one in Wan Chai for a Happy Hour. The snacks and drinks were pretty good so I decided to take my friends here for a birthday dinner. There are total six of us.
I must say, it was pretty darn GOOD!
Decor - Loved it. Made it like a real quarterdeck, looks fancier than the Wan Chai one, soft lighting with a fresh of red rose and candles. Good for a date! Guys u know what to do. hahaha
View - is awesome! Overlooking Victoria Harbor. We sat right next to the windows so we were able to see the night beauty of HK and laser light show very clearly, etc
Foodbowl - We ordered 6 dishes…
- Baked Oysters with bacon - bacon was bit too crunchy and hard. personally i prefer raw oyster.
- Quarterdeck crunchy salad - Refreshing! got my favorite avocado, apple, spinach with a creamy dressing
- Full rack of BBQ ribs - delicious but i still like the ones in Ruby Tuesday.
- Rib-Eye with mushroom sauce - steak is nicely done. medium as requested. juicy and tender.
- Bacon Fettuccine - forgot the name. the sauce was creamy and rich. Nothing real special though.
- Tuna Steak - my FAVORITE dish among all. tuna was cooked outside, raw inside. juicy and tender with a touch of freshness. There is salad and small baked potatoes underneath. LOVED it. would order it again!!
Service - pretty good. A pretty cute waiter brought us the Devil cake to my friend, sang a birthday song and took pictures for us. smile Excellent attitude. too bad we didnt ask his number hahaa
A few drawbacks…
- Location is at Ocean Terminal where it is close to the cruises. so part of seaview might be blocked depending on your luck and time to dine there.
- Some pier staff might walk pass sometimes when the cruises are there.
- Wine selection is very limited although most of them are very nice ones. Standard $300-320 per bottle.
Soooo I will come back this place again!! Fo sho! Cheers!
P.S. There was a 1/2 dinner buffet taking place as well. $268 including a main course and unlimited seafood platter, soup, cold plates, desserts, etc.

chopstickSashimi is fresh (cut on request) though not much variety.
Hot dishes, grill bar, curry, chinese roast, not bad.tongue I like the Wonton noodle very much.
lolDesserts are very attractive. There are soft ice-creams, puddings, soft ice-cream, many kinds of cakes. They are put in the fridge (except tarts and pies) to keep fresh and u get it on request.
New and nice environment.
